BLOG TOUR + ARC REVIEW : Clash by Sawyer Bennett

Clash: A Legal Affairs Story (Book #1 of Cal and Macy’s Story)
Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: April 7, 2015

Clash, a novella, is the first book in this Legal Affairs trilogy (Cal and Macy’s Story) and is releasing on 4/7/15. Grind will be released on 4/21/15 and Yield will be released on 5/5/15. Grind and Yield are full length novels.

Clash (verb): to conflict, disagree. It might be fair to say that I despise Macy Carrington. She slings insults with precision, not caring about the destruction she leaves in her wake. We clash in a battle of wills every time we’re around each other, and yet… I still fantasize about being lodged deep within her body.

Clash (verb): to come together or collide. I have never encountered someone that grates me the way Cal Carson does. His pompous, arrogant demeanor. A holier-than-thou attitude. Any interaction with “Saint Cal” ends in a verbal clash of epic proportions, and yet… there’s no one I’d rather have in my bed than him.

Clash (noun): a battle, fight or skirmish. Her breathy moans mingle with the sound of our flesh coming together, clashing with the silence that surrounds us, dispelling any notions I once had about Macy Carrington. Maybe I can break down her walls if we can call a truce to this battle. He whispers filthy words in my ear, provoking feelings I never knew were possible. The burning desire in his touch clashes with everything I once believed about Cal Carson. Maybe he can be the balm I need to soothe my broken soul, if only temporarily.

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Sawyer Bennett is a snarky southern woman and reformed trial lawyer who decided to finally start putting on paper all of the stories that were floating in her head. Her husband works for a Fortune 100 company which lets him fly all over the world while she stays at home with their daughter and three big, furry dogs who hog the bed. Sawyer would like to report she doesn't have many weaknesses but can be bribed with a nominal amount of milk chocolate. Sawyer is the author of several contemporary romances including the popular Off Series, the Legal Affairs Series and the Last Call Series.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

When I heard about Clash, I thought we would have a new book about McKayla and Matt from Legal Affairs Boxed Set: Volumes 1-6 and I was thrilled. It turns out it the book will be about Macy (McKayla best friend) and Cal (McKayla business partner/friend) and Matt ex-best friend but still friend). I was still intrigued because I couldn't picture them together.

The Legal Affair series was my first book from Sawyer Bennett and I followed her since. I love her books and thinking about this series make me want to read Matt's pov (Confessions of a Litigation God) which I never read because I didn't had the time and because I'm usually not a fan of male pov after we already know the story.

But back to Macy and Cal ;) The story starts at McKayla and Matt son's birthday party with Cal who tries to avoid Macy as much as possible. He has nothing against her but he doesn't really get on with her either. Every time they are in the same room, they can't stop to irritate each other, to annoy the other and to drive each other mad. And this time was no different.

But when your sex or your sexual appetite are threatened, neither of them can't stand it. So what's best than fuck it out of their system to show that 1) Macy is not frigid and 2) Cal has not a needle dick!
As always, steamy scenes are hot! Sawyer Bennett can write about sex for sure.

I gave it 3 stars mainly because I did like the book but I didn't love it. I found Cal was whining about Macy and then after they had sex he wanted her but (view spoiler)

The real strength was Macy. She is still a mystery. We only get glimpse of her thought through small chapters in the form of entries in her diary. She hides something or maybe it's better to she suffer from something which is related with her family. She buries her pain with sex and she does it through a date via a Website "One Night only"
But when she has to face a law suit, the only person who can help her is Cal ( he's a lawyer)

I can already say the story will intensify. I hope Cal won't be a pain in the ass and act like a jerk. There's more to Macy than the unattainable girl she let people think she is and I can't wait to know more.
