descriptionSex. Addiction.
One night changed everything.

With the sins that stand between Evan and Reagan, can a relationship emerge from a past that is so broken?
Or will the weight of their deceptions crush any hope of redemption?

“SO LET ME get this straight.” Dr. Glover lifted the end of his pen to his lips as his eyes narrowed on Evan over the top of his glasses. “The woman we’ve been discussing over the past few weeks finally shows you that she wants more, and you left her in an emotional heap in her office. Did I get that right?”
Evan stretched his long legs out in front of him. She thinks I fucked a prostitute the day after I left her apartment, so, yeah, that’s about right. Sighing, he leaned back into the worn leather couch. “You left out the part about her being a liar. And not someone I met in the last few weeks. She had an agenda.”
“So did you.”
“And what the hell was that?”
“You wanted to fuck her.”
“Jesus, you get right to the point, don’t you?”
“Well, that’s what you do. Isn’t it?”
I thought it was until I became obsessed with a leggy fucking blonde. Evan glared at the man whose eyes he swore fucking twinkled. “Even if it is, what therapist talks like you do? I’m positive they don’t teach you that in Patient- Client Relations 101.”
“I’ve always been a firm believer in no bullshit. I told you that the day you walked in and tried to lie to me. We aren’t going to make any progress if you don’t trust me and I don’t trust you.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know. You’re just—”
“Yes, Evan?”
Evan waved him off. “Nothing. I guess I’m still trying to process the fact that Reagan is that little girl from so long ago. A whole fucking life ago. It’s… I don’t know,” he said, running his fingers through his hair in frustration. “It’s disconcerting. She knew me before.”
“And that bothers you.”
“Fuck yes, it bothers me. I was ten years old the last time I saw her. Innocent. And now I’m…this.”
“You’re awfully hard on yourself. I wonder if you’re upset over what you’re saying or over Reagan thinking bad of you.”
And there it was. The truth he didn’t want to admit. Reagan accusing him of being with anyone hours after he’d been with her had infuriated him. Which was ridiculous, because he knew what he was. The demons he’d been trying to fight. Why would she assume anything but the worst? But with that anger came embarrassment and shame. He hated that she’d seen him on that corner. Hated that she’d seen him with Layla. But how the fuck could he ever convince her otherwise? And why would he even want to?
“She’s a liar,” he said.
“And you’re a sex addict. Fantastic pairing.”

A Desperate Man: Volume 1
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A desperate man ketp calling me ever since it was published. I resisted reading it because I didn't want to read a serial without knowing the release date for each instalment. My memory can be shitty like that.

But now with the third part being released on September 13, it was finally the time to get acquainted with Evan James

Evan James is a man with an addiction and the easy kind. Nope Evan is addicted to sex!
His life is a complete mess. He has no job and the worst of all he couldn't care less. That's how bad it is for him

”If he could live in pussy, he would. It was his weakness, his addiction, the one thing he’d give up anything and everything for. And he nearly had.”

When he got a job opportunity, he knows he can't mess up. But everything could shatter quickly when he finds out his direct boss Reagan better known as his last fix.

”She was the kind of woman you wanted on your arm at a business function so that, when you looked over at her, you had a goal, and that goal was to get through the night so you could take her home and sink your cock inside her as she lay under you, begging for it.”

Reagan becomes more than his last fix. Evan can't seem to forget about her and the night they had.
She is his new obsession, one he can't really understand but still there.

I clicked immediately with the sphere both Ella Frank&Brooke Blaine set us in. Told from Evan's pov, it's a tortue to see his character struggle so much.

”He hated who he was like this. Hated it yet couldn’t escape. He couldn’t decide which pain was worse: the physical agony, the fucked way he’d used and disposed of another human being, or the guilt and humiliation of having to acknowledge who he really was.”

Because Evan knows it's his last chance to do the right thing. He is an endearing character that I wish I knew better and have a better understanding of what he has to go through.

Reagan is still an enigma at this point. Reagan seems distant yet interested at the same time... Secrets seems dissimulate and the ending just made you want to jump on part 2 to know more.

A Desperate Man: Volume 2
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A desperate man part 2 caught me right away by surprise because it's told from Reagan's pov.

I was thrilled to be in the head of the girl who seems to hide secrets.
I wasn't disappointed because she did hide secrets and one that can change a lot of things between her and Evan.

”She was finding it imperative to keep a strong facade when it came to Evan James, because the man was charming enough to make you forget you didn’t want to get involved.

I missed a little of Evan's dirty mouth but both authors manage to give me just enough to crave the last part.
“I didn’t hear you put on anything underneath that skirt.
“I told you. I pay attention.”

In this part, Evan and Reagan have a pleasant friendship that started to grow but trust these two to let the sexual tension to quickly reach his maximum

”Evan James sure knew how to pack a punch when it came to a kiss.  He wasn’t timid or shy, he was a man who was confident in what he was doing—and there was nothing sexier than someone who knew he could have you orgasming from a look or kiss if he wanted you that way.”

A Desperate Man: Volume 3

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Desperate Man 2 left us hanging and begging for more. And believe me Ella &Brooke keep us hanging a little more.

Reagan and Evan love to hate each other.
They are still both a little mad at each other and their banter is hot AND funny
“You’re doing a lot of talking when you could be putting your mouth to better use,” she told him. “And you’re doing a lot of complaining for someone who is about two flicks away from an orgasm.”

I loved seeing Reagan's vulnerable side. She is scared to get too attached to someone like Evan. Will she be enough?

Evan has to decide if he can recouncil who he is now and let himself feel.
His past still hold him back but will he get all the information he needs?
“I need…”
“What do you need?”
“To be the man you see when you look at me like you are now.”
"And who’s that?”
“The man who deserves your heart.”

The sexual tension is still very much there and once they are over their "fight", them making love was simply THE BEST

If you are looking for a steamy series with a little bit of love-hate kind of relation with no drama -> A Desperate Man 1,2,3 is for you
"if you look closer, you’ll find that everything has a flaw, Evan. Every person, every relationship, every job. So perhaps it’s not the flaws we should be focusing on, but the beauty of it all."

About Brooke Blaine

You could say Brooke Blaine was a book-a-holic from the time she knew how to read; she used to tell her mother that curling up with one at 4 a.m. before elementary school was her ‘quiet time.’ Not much has changed except for the espresso I.V. pump she now carries around and the size of her onesie pajamas.
Now that she has written a raunchy story about a sex addict with her best friend that has scarred her conservative southern family for life, she can mark it off her bucket list. Brooke’s first novel, Flash Point, released in July 2015, and Licked is expected to drop in the fall of 2015, as long as the chocolate and coffee hold out.
If you’d like to get in touch with her, she’s easy to find - just keep an ear out for the Rick Astley ringtone that’s dominated her cell phone for ten years.
