Release Blitz + ARC review : Misconduct by Penelope Douglas

Title: Misconduct
Author: Penelope Douglas
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: December 1, 2015
Organized by: As the Pages Turn

Former tennis player Easton Bradbury is trying to be the best teacher she can be, trying to reach her bored students and trying to forget her past. What brought her to this stage in her life isn’t important. She can’t let it be. But now one parent-teacher meeting may be her undoing…

Meeting Tyler Marek for the first time makes it easy for Easton to see why his son is having trouble in school. The man knows how to manage businesses and wealth, not a teenage boy. Or a young teacher, for that matter, though he tries to. And yet…there is something about him that draws Easton in—a hint of vulnerability, a flash of attraction, a spark that might burn.

Wanting him is taboo. Needing him is undeniable. And his long-awaited touch will weaken Easton’s resolve—and reveal what should stay hidden…

First Penelope Douglas book, first winner =D For some reason that I can't even explain I thought I already read this author before but I guess I just made a mistake because nope I'm not familiar with her or her books.

And now it's the moment when you all tell me to read Bully, right? ;)

You may not know me well but let me tell you something else about me, when I read a blurb I quickly forget about it so what I remembered when I started Misconduct was : Tennis – Teacher – Parent – Taboo

With that in mind, you should have seen my face when Easton was in fact a school teacher ( no tennis because for some reason if she was a player she couldn't teach anything else for me) AND when I learnt Tyler was a CEO with the intention of becoming a Senator + being a parent of a 14 years old teenager.

I was hooked from the start especially because Easton and Tyler first met when they have no idea who's who. They connect immediately. She has a strong mind and with her talk and boldness, she picks Tyler's interest. But it was a one night talk, a one night interaction that won't leave them so soon.

Six months later, when they met again, the circumstance are very different. She is a History teacher and he is there with his son. As you've probably read in the blurb she is his son teacher. Yep that complicate any relation they could have.

Forbidden romance captivates me. I'm always very curious to see how an author gets to handle subtle subjects like this one. And Penelope Douglas did it thoroughly well! This story is filled with tension, awareness, real life situation mixed with attraction, life changing decisions.

Both characters are very interesting and very different, yet can be equal for some parts.
Easton is an independent woman because of what she has been through. I won't say much just know she is a though cookie and it was certainly the best part for me. Strong fierce heroine is always a major plus, one who's not afraid to speak her mind no matter who she has in front of her is a win in my reads. Easton was all that and more.

"My chest swelled with the need to be something for her that I had never been for any other woman. I wanted to give her everything. I wanted to never disappoint her."

Tyler is an elegant good-looking guy who like most CEO has control over everything in his life. He tries his best to combine work obligations and personal life. Unfortunately doing his best is not always enough. He wants to do right with his son but fails miserably. Adding his attraction to Easton to the mix is confusing him.

" You can do a couple things and succeed, or you can try to do fifteen things and fail at all of them."

They are both people who like control, they both keep people at arms length and they both focus on other aspects of their life to avoid everything too personal.

Misconduct is also a very sexy and steamy read. The attraction is undeniable. These two are hot, sensual and the magnetism simply can't be denied.

“I’ve been with enough women to know when it’s right and when it’s wrong”—he bit my bottom lip and released it—“and when I have you in my hands, it feels more right than anything.”

At the end, there was one thing in particular that was a bit unnecessary and that added nothing to the story for me but aside from it, I enjoyed Easton and Tyler perfectly fine.

Extra quote:

Misconduct - Excerpt

I narrowed my eyes, ready to object, but he grabbed my elbow and led me away from the group so fast I nearly stumbled along the brick path.

“What are you doing?” I whispered as he moved his hand to my back, continuing to lead me off the patio and into the house.

But he didn’t answer.

Most of the guests were outside, but there were a few scattered about, browsing around the house, as well as servers gathering food and supplies to refresh the tables.

“Tyler, someone will see us,” I whisper-yelled this time, trying to dig in my heels and stop him.

But once we were past the bustle of the kitchen, he took my hand and pulled me down the dimmed hallway and past the foyer to his den.

He opened the door, dragged me inside, and slammed it closed. Releasing my hand, he walked behind his desk and crossed his arms over his chest, locking eyes with me.

What the hell was wrong with him?

The woman simply wanted an introduction. Did he think I didn’t know how to be discreet? She couldn’t possibly have recognized me.

Or maybe he was angry about my behavior before she arrived. I guess I wasn’t so discreet.

“What did he say to you?” Tyler barked out. “When he whispered in your ear?”

I cocked my head, choosing to be stubborn.

“Does it matter?” I played.

He shook his head, letting out a bitter laugh. “Not everything that’s in your head needs to come out of your mouth,” he scolded.

Ah, now we were getting somewhere.

“Are you angry because of what I said or because I drew attention to myself?” I inquired, crossing my arms as well. “Maybe I shouldn’t wear any short skirts either.”

He placed his hands palm down on his desk and glared at me. “That’s not what this is about.”

“Right.” I smiled. “Let me guess. I forgot my place. Legs open, mouth closed, right?”

He pulled up, slowly circling the desk and looking down at me. “Don’t be dramatic.”

My skin tingled, and my heart sped up. “What are you really mad about?”

“What did he say say to you?” His full bottom lip was tight with tension.

“I forgot.” I shrugged. “Something about his dick.”

His entire face hardened. “I should’ve hit him.”

“Then why didn’t you?”

“Because I’m not a child!” he bellowed. “I’m an adult who picks his battles. I don’t just run off, half-cocked, no matter how much I wanted to see him bloody for even getting near you.”

“Too bad,” I taunted, a slight smile on my lips. “If you had, I’d be in here on my knees, sucking your dick right now instead of thinking about his.”

His eyes flared, and he bared his teeth. Grabbing me by the jaw in one hand and hovering his lips just over mine, he slowly swung me around and slammed my ass against the desk, the small tray of file folders on the corner spilling to the floor.

My blood raced. Yes.
