Review: Rhapsody by Cecilia London *** EXCERPT & GIVEAWAY***

"I'm never going to stop loving you, Caroline. It's just not possible."

Major Caroline Gerard returns from a dangerous mission battered and bruised. Terrified to confront the emotional and physical gap between her and her husband, she's determined to do whatever it takes to avoid reality.

Commander Jack McIntyre has been tasked with saving American democracy, but he has to save his marriage first. He's desperate to regain the passionate connection that he and his wife once shared. And a man on a mission will sacrifice anything to succeed.

In the meantime, the rebellion is in need of a catalyst to spur international action to stop President Santos’ increasingly unstable behavior. As Caroline and Jack repair their hearts, each day brings new secrets and new challenges, and a revelation that could shatter everything they thought was true.

Rhapsody is the fifth book in The Bellator Saga. It should be read after the first four books in the series.

He laughed and got up from the bed. “I have something I’d like to give you.”
Caroline had never been one to turn down gifts, especially now when she had so few material things. She was so caught up in the sight of her husband’s bare ass that she almost forgot why he was getting out of bed in the first place. He had a very good physique for an almost fifty-five year old man.
“Okay,” she said.
Jack went over to the dresser, rummaged around in it, then sat on the bed next to her and handed her a box.
She wrapped the sheet around her and stared at him, perplexed. “Did you have a jewelry store put in the compound?”
He smiled. “No. Open it.”
Caroline cracked the box open and did a double take. It was her anniversary band. A full ring of half carat diamonds in platinum prongs. It wasn’t a typical first year anniversary gift, but Jack wasn’t a typical husband. They’d gone through so much with the ugliness of the gubernatorial campaign and adjusting to their shared lives that he had deemed it necessary to shower her with some bling, though he knew she was never one to demand it.
Although Jack eagerly gifted her jewelry, she rarely wore the anniversary band. Between that and her engagement ring, she felt uncomfortable having that much wealth on her finger. She only wore it a handful of times in public – Election Night, Jack’s inaugural, a couple of fancy parties. In their haste to leave that night in February, it was one of the many superfluous items she left behind at the mansion.
“Where did you get this?” she asked softly.
“I hid the flash drive in it and put it in my coat pocket. I knew you wouldn’t notice it was gone. I hoped that if we were caught, whoever got ahold of us might not find the flash drive right away. That they’d think I was being shallow or something.” Jack paused. “I was terribly afraid of what might happen if we got separated, if one of us was killed, if one of us was captured-”
That was the one thing they’d never really talked about as their situation had become more perilous or even during the short time they were on the run. In hindsight, it might have helped if they had.
“If I was captured or killed,” Caroline said.
He cleared his throat. “Yes. If I lost you I wanted something to remind me of you. And this ring is a reminder that you’re the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
She stared at the glimmering diamonds again, because she very well couldn’t look at him. “Oh, Monty.”
Jack smiled. “I have to say, this whole ‘you being nice to me again’ thing is pretty gratifying.” Caroline took the ring out of the box. “Let me,” he said quietly, and slipped it onto her finger, kissing the top of her hand.
Despite her swollen knuckles and improperly healed broken bones, it still fit. She pulled him to her and kissed him again, more passionately this time. “Remember when you showed me how much you loved me a little while ago?”
The smile became a grin. “Yup.”
“How about you do that again?”
“I can handle that request.” Jack threw the sheet aside and rolled on top of her. “You are mine,” he said. “All mine.”
Caroline smiled. “Yours.”
He slid a finger inside her, catching her off guard, and she cried out when he bit her nipple, hard. “So long as there is breath in my body, no other man is allowed to even look at you,” he growled.
Oh, she liked where this was going. “Aren’t you a beast,” she said.
“Care for a demonstration?”
She fisted his hair and pulled him closer. “Are you going to fuck me or what?”

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Where to start? Seriously, this is book 5 of the spectacular Bellator Saga and I kid you not, for each and every book, Cecilia London has wrung me out. Invoked in me completely different and deeply moving emotions, each and every time. And I FLOVE it!

This highly charged, sexy, gritty and raw saga is not to be missed. Before I even start my review, if you've not read this series, start NOW!
At this point in Jack and Caroline's journey from political darlings to hunted dissidents, they're at an impasse of sorts. There are things that HAVE TO happen so they could move forward and there is no way around it. And I dreaded it, in a purely 'I so want it but I'm a scared' kind of way! I knew it was going to be painful, angst ridden and heart wrenching.
But things needed to be said no matter how harsh and cutting. Their path would be riddled with explosives resulting in raw wounds. I read this in practically one sitting as I clutched my heart, cried, railed and swooned. For me, it was cathartic, much needed and beautiful.

Cecilia phenomenally crafted this journey with the inevitable yet passionate, knee-buckling crescendo of Jack and Caroline facing their past, their present and potentially, their future. She did a fabulous job of laying out this hard and emotional conversation. Yes, a conversation. It was terrifyingly real in portraying how marriage is work, it's a life-long commitment that takes two people working at it every day to help each other thrive as individuals and as a couple. When you throw in a dark, brutal and soul-destroying experience like what Caroline endured, it makes all of it that much harder. But Cecilia brought it home in spades!!!
I love Caroline something fierce. She's is beyond a strong, smart and kick ass heroine. No matter how flawed she is with some of the cringe-worthy things she says and does, I can't help but root for her, adore her and want to see her Triumph. And Jack...I didn't think it was possible to love Jack McIntyre any more than I already did...but, I do!! This man is the epitome of a loving, devoted and true partner.

I also found the dialogue between Jack and Caroline to be spectacular. It peeled back layers of their relationship and felt very much like a second chance. In some ways they were reconnecting and others, they were starting a new.
There are some highly erotic and emotionally moving scenes of dialogue and intimacy as these two reconnect. Having always been a lover of men's hands, I particularly found this scene immensely pleasing and beyond hot.
“What do you miss the most?”

“Your hands,” she whispered, reaching for him, stroking his fingers.

“What about my hands?”

So strong. So powerful. When was the last time she'd focused on his physical presence?

She could let herself drift, do it now. Get caught up in the emotion of it all knowing he'd be there if she crashed.

“I miss what they used to do to me. What you used to do. The way you would touch me with them. The way it felt when they were inside me.”

It's hard to believe there's only one book left. It's been one hell of a ride and I am so ready!

“We started this together. We’re going to end it together.”

Hells Yeah!! Can't wait for Triumph!!

6 Blissfully agonising erotic stars+++

This series just gets better and better for me. You get flawed characters that are broken yet beautiful. And in this instalment I'd say it was very much an emotional journey... Where the jigsaw puzzle is slowly being put back together, there's rough edges but there is some hope and a whole lot of healing going on.

Andddd boy have I fallen deeper in love with Jack...

Some of my emotions while reading this

CAROLINE poor Caroline..

Caroline will you just get your head out of your ass..

And Awww Caroline I might just love you more.

So what's it about?
Without giving anything away to those who haven't read this series, let's just say I was a tad anxious going into this one, and did everything turn out alright??

The thing is, Caroline has been through the mill yes? Not just that, but she has been torchured brutally previously sooooo therefore it is taking a good amount of time for Caroline to reconnect with her past and that includes Jack..

Soooo what do you get?

Patience in Jack,

Endearing characters,

A Loving man,

Loyal friends,

Dominant hero,

Romantic hero,

Erotic couple,
Beautiful couple,
And a Raw hero who loves Fierce

Ahhh this is why I love Jack with my whole heart but also because he loves Caroline fierce and while in some books I can dream or think that I'm the heroine. Here I am definitely watching the outside looking in, admiring such a beautiful couple, their strength, their unconditional love towards each other. And how much they give to each other but also to the people they trust. Their people.

This part of this story though is a more intense, emotional read. Maybe less on the plot and more on the characters, it was sensual, blissfully erotic, moving, loving, and full of special memories that just pulled at my heart. I welled up a many a time. Emotions are high but they're finally dealing... Long story short I AM FULLY EMOTIONALLY INVOLVED IN THIS COUPLE you just can't help but love them both completely. I ADORE Jack but I admire Caroline.

This though is also one of those reads where you just want to saviour it all. I'm also now thinking HOLYSHIT only one more book, look how far they've come? A roller coaster of events, memories and emotions just doesn't give it justice to this story. IT IS FUCKIN AMAZING! It just gets better and better. And damn Cecilia she's ruined all future reads for me right now I don't think I can read again LMAO just kidding but really? How can I move on??

Anyhoo do I recommend this book, hell YESSS, why?? Cause of Jack and Caroline? The most beautiful erotic, raw, and flawed couple I have had the privilege of getting to know slowly. I will surely be thinking about them for weeks to come you know until the last one is out....

Write Cecilia writeeee

That. Is. All.

Series Thoughts
We just wanted to take 5 minutes to write down why we think this series is worth your time?
This series is a whirlwind of emotions and a series I can honestly say is different to anything we've ever read before. It is 6 full length novels on the same couple and yes we know that is hard to get over, believe us when we know how tight peoples schedules are... (we are the same)
That said we can hands down say that it's 120% worth every minute of your time, it's huggeee on the plot which weaves around your heart bit by bit, you will get the time to be emotionally involved in this couple and everything they go though because you're there with them, feeling it all with them too. You get a strong heroine who goes through so much but deals and Jackkkkkkk you can't but love his character and everything about him. Take the time to catch up, indulge in a coffee or a glass of wine, a box of tissues some chocolate and be with them. You won't regret it....

Catch up with this series
