Blog Tour + Review: The Darkest Sunrise by Aly Martinez

descriptionSticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me. Whoever coined that phrase is a bald-faced liar. Words are often the sharpest weapon of all, triggering some of the most powerful emotions a human can experience. “You’re pregnant.” “It’s a boy.” “Your son needs a heart transplant.” Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me. Lies. Syllables and letters may not be tangible, but they can still destroy your entire life faster than a bullet from a gun.Two words—that was all it took to extinguish the sun from my sky. “He’s gone.” For ten years, the darkness consumed me. In the end, it was four deep, gravelly words that gave me hope of another sunrise. “Hi. I’m Porter Reese.”

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don't even know where to start with this review so I'm afraid it's going to be somewhat blasé as I don't want to ruin anything for anyone else. I'm just going to talk about my feelings so apologies in advance if it's a tad emotional...

This book is EVERYTHING I love in Romance, everything I love in Aly's writing and everything I love when I'm gripped to my kindle. Just EVERYTHING..

This book has me gripped from the begging to end, in the most heart wrenching but beautiful way. It's about two souls that have the weight of the world on their shoulders, dark pasts that they are trying to live with and trying their best to not go under themselves. So in that they find themselves connected and find themselves needing each other for similar reasons but different. Omg the feels, I just am so delighted with the way it pulled me under right alongside them.

No questions. No judgements. No faking.

The characters
Let's talk about them for a minute. We have Porter gah what a charming, caring, nurturing man. He is sexy yes but what pulled me towards his character was the man he is, how much he loved and loved hard. How he loved his family something fierce and then how he protected and cared for Charlotte who needed time and patience to let anyone in. She is a closed book if there's any, and Porter just takes the time with her. Porter just sees through Charlotte and see's everything no one else does.

Charlotte lost a part of her. Omg the prologue I was in tears full blown tears. I knew from that part on this read was going to suck me right in. But you know she just needs someone to push her make her feel and help her live, and yes that includes love. She closed herself off. Porter though was just the right mix for her.

That's all I'm going to say.. but I will say this read has so many FEELS delicious feels, sensual feels, heart wrenching feels. But it was the most delicious read, I'm so happy I read this, and Aly's best writing to date.. ahhhh EVERYTHING.. I cried, I smiled, I felt.

Read it guys...

Enjoy Xoxo

You won't want to miss this amazing series!

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children. Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person. She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
