My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It's been a couple of months that I've been curious about Evan's story. After reading Red, I had so many questions about him and what happened that cause his disappearance.

S.M. West's magic begins early in the book with the way she connects all the information we had in Red. For those who read the first book in the Love in Color series there will be many times throughout your read with a moment of recognition and that felt truly amazing.
Now for those who read Blue as the first book, I would say go for it! It works perfectly well too. In this case, the writer's ability just shows by how many information you'll get to be fully on board with what Evan & Carys have been through to be where they stand now.

With the help of chapters that goes back to the origin of their love, you'll get to know them better. Their age difference, even if it was not much – 3 years – felt like it was sometime too important to overcome especially when you are a teenagers. Evan was from the start a selfless character who wanted the girl he loves to be able to live fully until they were ready. Carys was a young lady so captured by her love for Evan that she couldn't get past it.

The more I read and the more I fell for them both. The beauty with Blue is the way every feeling is described. You feel the pain, the joy, the longing, the need and the love Evan& Carys have towards each other.

"Pulling her to me, I encase her slender body in my arms. God, breathing, being, thinking is easier, possible, with her next to my heart."

Carys never thought to see Evan coming back in her life and she struggles with feelings she has. She's happy but struggle to get past the idea that Evan left her all alone without a satisfying explanation.
Evan had no other choice than to left the love of his life; protection always comes first and always will be.

I can't make a difference between Evan & Carys because I understood all their thoughts, all their fear and everything that attract them towards each other. There are this beautiful couple that needs to find their way back to each other.

“You took my choice from me,” I blurt out, unable to curb the hurt and anger. “You should’ve told me, treated me like your partner. Instead, you never even gave us a chance to do it together. I’ve told you before, and I meant it: I’d follow you into the dark.”

Blue was an intense and emotional journey full of passion with a touch of forgiveness and lots of love. I recommend it for all the second chance romance addicts.

I voluntary read a beta copy and an ARC copy of Blue given by the author

“Evan, I want to know what happened, but I have a life now and you need to know…” She trails off, her eyes darting away from mine.

Gazing up at me, she continues, “Whatever you have to say, it’s not going to change a thing. We’re over.”

My heart twists and breathing becomes difficult. Mother fuck, her words cut deep, hurting even though they aren’t true. Sure, she believes them on some level—she had to, in order to get through what I did. Yet, along with the hurt and disappointment swimming in her eyes, there’s also tenderness and love.

“Tell me you’re happy and I’ll walk away.”

We always pushed each other, challenged the other to face our fears, to be honest with ourselves, with each other. I need to hear her say it. I don’t believe it, but if she is over me, I need to hear it in her voice and see it in her face—not because I want to, but because it’s the only way I can even begin to accept that we’re over. Even then, it’s not possible.

“I’m happy.” Her tone is laden with bravado, but no true emotion. Even her gaze, which never wavers from mine, is flat.

Shaking my head, I briefly cast my eyes downward to suppress my smile. “No, you’re not.”

“Van.” I flinch at that fucking name.

As a child, I thought it was so fucking cool to have a nickname that only my best friends would call me. Now, hearing “Van” from her pretty lips, I want to obliterate the word from her vocabulary, fucking kiss the word out of her.

“You can call me asshole for all I care, you’re not happy,” I retort in frustration. Catching my tone, I breathe deeply and loosen my fists to relax. “Don’t lie to me, and most of all, don’t lie to yourself.”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about. You want to see what you want. I’m with Greg, and we’re happy.”

She grimaces infinitesimally, then averts her eyes from me. Unable to read her, I’m not sure if it’s because she means it and doesn’t want to hurt my feelings or if the lie tastes nasty in her mouth.
“Sweetness, I know everything there is to know about you, without apology. You can’t lie to me.”
